Equine Assisted Learning
Sunshine Days Equine Assisted Learning is designed for children in special education classes to accelerate therapeutic goals in an outdoor classroom setting, providing a multi sensory experience with a focus on improving fine/gross motor skills, receptive/expressive language skills, social/emotional functioning, leadership and empowerment capabilities.
About the Program
Activities
We will provide a fun experience with horses that include a variety of activities and games such as steer dummy roping and Ring Toss, horse facts, horse leading, bingo/Scavenger hunt , brush the horse and more! We are happy to explore more options upon request. Activities are with horses on the ground and do not involve horseback riding.
Logistics
Our sessions are designed to be 1.5 - 2hr long and will acommodate up to 15 students. STRC will provide the activities, the horses and safely while the school will be in charge of student supervision, learning targets and personal care. A minimum chaperone ratio of 1:3 is required to ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants.
The school will be responsible for transporting your students and staff from your location to our facility. Time will be spent outdoors doing physical activities with horses. Closed toed shoes are required for all participants.
