For our success, volunteers play a crucial role in helping us to ensure safety for our riders, horses are taken care of, help us raise funds, maintain our facility.

HORSE LEADER
Lead the horse during a session, groom and tack up the horse. Volunteers will work with the horses from the ground and will not be asked to ride.
Minimum age: 16+; mandatory training; prior horse experience (3-5 years) is necessary.
OUTSIDE THE ARENA
Barn Crew: Feeding, Cleaning Barn
Facility Maintenance: Mowing, Weed Eating, Bush Hogging, Repairs, Fence Painting, etc.
Special Events: Fundraisers
SIDE WALKER
Walk beside the rider and their horse to assist the therapist with balance and reinforce the therapist’s directions.
Minimum Age: 14+, Training Mandatory, no horse experience needed
REQUIREMENTS:
All volunteers must attend the STRC Volunteer Training (approximately 2 hours) and are asked to pass a background check.
Cost to volunteer: $19.
Side walkers and horse leaders must be able to walk for 60 minutes, be able to jog briefly, and possibly support a moderate amount of weight.
The minimum age is 14. Younger volunteers may be asked to participate in opportunities outside the arena with parental supervision
